The United States of America has huge amount of debt now. It is known as about $55 trillion. I can’t even imagine how big it is.Looking the last couple years, the Unite States have been obviously spending so much money on the War in Iraq. I don’t know if that’s for getting huge oil resources by conquering and taking over their places, but to me who is not from this country it does really look just unwise way and wasting their money for killing innocent people. It’s also quite clear they borrowed so much money from many countries and now it remains as huge debts for this country. I think if they still keep doing this, then it would be definitely the cause and for as its potential consequences of growing national debt they will have more debt.

To stop this, first America should end the war in Iraq. So far $ 864 billion is the total cost which covers all war-related appropriations from FY 2001 through part of FY 2009 in supplemental, regular appropriations, and continuing resolutions. This is really huge amount of money therefore if they keep going like this, it probably hits some amount of money which they almost can never pay back anymore.

For general, I heard the total national debt of this country is about $53 trillion and that includes social security and medical care and so on. On the medical care field, I think America will face to another problem. From 1946 to 1964 America had baby boom. People who were born during the period were considered as baby boom generation and from January 2008 they started receiving the social security. Since it is even called “baby boom” there are huge population and I think it is possible to happen that their demand exceeds the supply. That way, they might have to borrow some money again and the debt gets expand.

I don’t know what the exact solution for this, but there are some ways that America can try. Alternative energy could be the one of the ways. With the huge plenty wide of land of America, solar power, wind power and water power etc could be very ideal trial. I bet they already have been trying these alternative energies. Also now many car companies in the world are working on to invent new energy for car which can be substitutable for gasoline like hybrid or electric. If these energies can be more realistic and spread out over the world and applied more to our ordinal lives then that can save quite big cost. Of course it’s also good for our earth.

There is also another way that America can try harder. It’s recycle. In Japan, when we set up trash can it will be categorized into four big categories and if I translate directly from Japanese to English those are combustible trash, incombustible trash, resource trash, and plastic bottle.  Combustible trash is basically anything that can be disposed by burning. Incombustible trash can be buried on our land. Now next two things are important parts. Resource trash could be glass bottle like bear bottle, news papers, magazines, cardboard boxes, and anything like that. Those are taken to a place and recycled, and come out as new products. For the last category, plastic bottle is the bottle you find it in store as container for coke, mountain dew and basically any drinks contained in plastic bottle. These empty bottles can be also recycled and it will be renewed as the same function of bottle. Then we don’t have to use more resources to produce exactly same products. It might be seen in your eyes as just a tiny thing but these tiny things can save some money and it will become big money at the end. Since I came here, I’ve noticed that people just throw away trash in one trash can together in America. Probably since America has large land so maybe it doesn’t matter to people to just throw away and buried them in the ground, but that is something people can easily change if they pay attention more.

Another idea is eating healthy food and staying healthy. This may not sound like ridiculous but the real meaning behind the idea will be explained next. If the numbers of unhealthy people or corpulent people are increased then work force of this country will decline. If people got sick or became overweight extremely then I think they will tend not to work anymore. If the numbers of workers decrease then probably the GDP of this country also decreases. It is just a bad cycle.

There must be better and more practical solution which is like some governors come up, but these ideas that I suggested are very small thing and easy thing and they can make a big difference when it’s piled up. So just do what you can do and start from very small thing.     Work Site.http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL33110.pdf

Re: the national debt of the U.S.A

This essay is really good and observant. I like how you compare and contrast our two nations. The only thing is thatsome overweight people not all cant help it due to diabetes from infancy thyroid isuues and other things- unfortunatly mabe the parents of those people did not have adequate health care. Also healthy food is far more expensive than other food, for people on a tight budget especially in high rent areas like california, new york, and florida, these people eat unhealthy or not at all just to keep a roof over their head. I like your ideas though. I do agree we go to war for greed more than nessessity this time.

Re: the national debt of the U.S.A

I like your ideas and bring ideas from your country is a wonderful idea. I feel like making our envioronment and our people healthier would help greaty. But I truly love the idea of alternative energy resources. We are a nation should put more money into such resources because it will help create a less financial obligation for the nation even if it is costly up front.

Re: the national debt of the U.S.A

Hey Yuki,

A few grammatical errors, but that is no problem. Great Job on your essay, I definately agree that a main priority should be to get our troops out of Iraq. Your statisitcs on national debt were great.

Yuki,
I liked reading a paper from an internation perspective. And I liked your suggestions for alternate energy resources. You had a few errors in statistics and grammar but overall you had a very good paper.

Re: the national debt of the U.S.A

It is interesting to hear how people from other countries veiw the USA. I don't agree with most of the points because if we end the war the money we spent will have been wasted. I did like the point that Americans need to work on being healthy but that will not solve enough of the health issues such as health care and how to pay for health benifits.

Re: the national debt of the U.S.A

Great job, Very informative!! You have good ideas!! I agree that the seems to be the biggest part of the debt! $864 billion is such an insane amount, it is hard to know how much that really is!

Re: the national debt of the U.S.A

This national debt is hurting all of us. Moreover, it remains a question for us on how can we able to pay that huge debt in other countries; we are currently facing economic mess and until now, we are not able to find our way on the road of recovery. High health care cost is still a burden for many, and forced them not to seek for medical treatment to their illnesses. Thankfully, the Walgreens(a prescription megastore) is here; they are offering free healthcare to those who qualify for a while. It seems likely that it will last the rest of 2009, so those who can't get payday loans to throw money away on a doctor, can head to their nearest Walgreens that has one of the Take Care clinics that they installed in certain store locations. Proof of unemployment must be furnishd, or you'll be turned away. The Take Care Clinics were started back in 2007, to provide quality healthcare to those who couldn't afford it as easily as regular care, which is a very charitable thing for Walgreens to do.
